Remember when reading my posts: the reason I became involved with this election race is because our precinct caucus was a mess. But the more I read up on things, I realized the entire political process is messed up.
And now I realize how manipulative and disgusting it can be. It is not for the faint of heart or those with stomach ulcers.
My goal as Delegate and Delegation Chairwoman to our County Convention was to play fair and get Hillary Clinton nominated as the Democratic Party’s choice for POTUS and negotiate with the other side that it would be in the neighborhood’s best interest to play fair since our precinct caucus was such a mess.
My goal as a Texas State Delegate is the same: play fair to get Hillary Clinton nominated. My goal as a National Delegate, should I be honored to wear that title, will be the same: play fair to get Hillary Clinton nominated.
And, if Hillary Clinton is nominated, my goal will be to play fair and get Hillary Clinton elected as POTUS.
What I ask myself now is what happened to honesty and old fashioned values? And what has happened to make honesty and old fashioned values undesirable or thought of as naïve?
Ask yourself this, how can we expect our children to play fair (be respectful) when they see exactly the opposite happening all around them? And how can we expect our children to respect women in positions of authority when women are called awful names on a daily basis?
I just read a posting that said "fair is good, but winning is better". Why do we not consider and work toward playing fair and winning? Playing fair is, after all, the honorable thing to do and what we tell our children to do.
So, my thought is, "Winning by playing fair is the best."
It is the American thing to do.
America is the greatest country on this planet. With that honor comes responsibility. We were held in high regard. It wasn’t only Bush and his years that led us from our purpose, we are responsible as well because we sit back and allow these things to continue.
Which leads me to my current concern:
I find Hillary Clinton’s opponents’ comments about John McCain “losing his bearings” to be disturbing. Not only is this disrespectful to an elder, a statesman and a veteran, the opponent attempted to hit below the belt and then denied doing it.
What does any of this have to do with the issues facing America, I would ask Hillary Clinton’s opponent?
Here’s what McCain’s senior advisor said, “We have all become familiar with Senator Obama’s new brand of politics. First, you demand civility from your opponent, then you attack him, distort his record and send out surrogates to question his integrity. It is called hypocrisy, and it is the oldest kind of politics there is.”
If Hillary Clinton’s opponent is the nominee for POTUS from the Democratic Party, is this the message we Democrats want to send to the world, that we play this way now?
I also find it an interesting social issue that I would be accused of being racist for calling a young AA man a boy in the same context I call myself a girl (I am 47 yr. old), yet an AA nominee for POTUS believes it alright to say his older opponent is “losing his bearings” as a method of challenging his mental capacities and once again not addressing the issue at hand. The issue at hand is if Hillary Clinton’s opponent would be the preferential candidate of Hamas – meaning Hillary Clinton’s opponent would be more lenient with regard to Hamas.
I would think that question is legitimate to ask of a presidential candidate.
Another point I'd like to make is that if Hillary Clinton’s opponent takes the nomination, this type of drama will continue. And, it is drama.
I say it is way past time Hillary Clinton’s opponent sit down and actually answer some direct questions without beating around the bush or using undertones and clever ways of hitting below the belt. I don’t know how many times I have stated – just answer the simple question – while listening to him during a debate. I don’t think he’s listening, he continues to avoid answering the questions.
Other observations I’ve noticed:
What’s up with all these men posturing themselves around Hillary Clinton’s opponent? Do you see any women doing that?
I’m becoming more uncomfortable that we’re not hearing details regarding the Middle East from Hillary Clinton’s opponent. And it’s not that the questions aren’t being asked, it’s because Hillary Clinton’s opponent won’t answer the questions being asked.
And now with the Beirut situation: I believe POTUS is too big for such an inexperienced, liberal, first time Senator who couldn’t even clean up his own house before he went over to another.
If I were Hillary, I would take this process to the Democratic National Convention floor; that is the only way every Super Delegates’ hand would be seen by the American people so that each and every one of us ordinary Democrats know exactly where each and every one of our elected officials stand.
Are they voting the way their people voted?
Are they crossing over to posture and pad their resume?
Is their heart in it or is it simply a business matter to them?
As I’ve said before, if the people of America are really looking for change, a woman is the only way to do that – otherwise, it still remains the good ol’ boys club.
HILLARY CLINTON for POTUS!!!
